Selected Topics in Nuclear

and Atomic Physics
 

Fiera di Primiero (TN), September 30-October 4, 2009

The  twelfth session of the series "Selected Topics in Nuclear and Atomic Physics" will take place from September 30th to October 4th, 2009. Since 1999 we have moved the site of the meeting from Varenna, its traditional site, to Fiera di Primiero, a small town in the Italian Dolomites. Thanks to the hospitality of the local authorities the meeting will be held at the "Sala Terrabugio"  placed in the ancient main street of the town.

Along the tradition of the previous meetings, the skeleton of the program will be formed by a series of  lectures on different subjects of general interest. The topics for this year and the corresponding lecturers are:

• Nuclear reactions with unstable beams (Patricia Roussel Chomaz, GANIL),

• Shape phase transitions and critical point symmetries (Jose' Arias, Sevilla),

• Double-beta decay and large-scale shell model calculations (Alfredo Poves, Madrid),

• TDHF approaches with applications to nuclear reactions and structure (Cedric Simenel, CEA Saclay),

• A novel approach to the physics of complex systems: the case of Finance (Fulvio Baldovin, Padova),

• Nuclear structure along Z=28 and 82 closed proton shells studied with radioactive nuclear beams (Pieter Van Duppen, Leuven).

Accommodation.
Participants will stay at the CONCA VERDE Hotel (+39 0439 62490). The Conference Fee of 450,00 Euro (cash)  includes lodging and full pension from September 29th, dinner, to October 5th, breakfast.

Travel.
Fiera can be reached by Atesina bus from Feltre (Bus stops just in front of Feltre railways station).
Buses are leaving Feltre at 7:50,  9:45, 12:10, 13:10, 14:50; 17:20, 18:45, 19:50. Travel takes approximately 60 minutes.

Feltre can be reached by train from Padova or Venezia-Mestre. 
From Padova (train station) to Feltre:
Most convenient trains are at 7:17 (reaching Feltre at 9:23);  9:33 (10:53); 11:34 (12:49); 12:50 (14:24); 13:45 (15:30); 14:43 (16:18); 15:34 (17:10); 17:05 (18:26); 18:12 (19:42); 19:16 (20:40); 21:20 (22:40); 22:46 (00:01).
Train ticket can  be bought at the station.
From Venezia-Mestre (train station) to Feltre:

From Venice airport to Venezia-Mestre train station:
There is a bus (ATVO lines), approx. 20 minutes. Schedule can be found at http://www.atvo.it. Ticket can be bought at the ATVO Office in the airport arrival hall.

Social activities.
A small welcome is organized for Tuesday 29 September evening, at 9:00 p.m.
A full afternoon excursion will be scheduled during the Meeting (please remember to bring your trekking or confortable walking shoes).

Weather.
It is hoped that the weather will be sunny throughout the entire week. Evenings, however, tend to be rather cool and you are thus encouraged to bring along a warm sweater and/or a rain jacket
